A Word from the Director

It is precisely museums that make today’s Russia Russia

An interview with Mikhail Piotrovsky in the newspaper Severnaya Pravda 25 July 2017

Posted on July 25, 2017

Piotrovsky is in Kostroma for two days – as chairman of the Union of Museums of Russian and so as to talk about collaboration between museums and the Church. But in an exclusive interview, we change the occasion: Piotrovsky is a director marking his jubilee (this July it is exactly a quarter of a century since he became head of St Petersburg’s iconic museum) and we speak about the idea of the nation, the face of Russia, the witness to the revolution, the political space, the guardian of tradition, the place for experimentation… about everything that comes together for Mikhail Piotrovsky in “My Hermitage”.
